Prof. Dr. Ünver KAYNAK

After receiving his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Aeronautical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) between 1979–81, he completed his Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics at Stanford University as a TÜBİTAK scholar (1986). During this period, he also worked as a researcher in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) at NASA Ames Research Center (1983–87).

Throughout his professional career, he served as a project engineer in UAV programs at Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) and later as Chief Project Engineer and Program Leader for the A400M transport aircraft project (1988–2002). Within the scope of TÜBİTAK projects, he co-founded TK3-Teknik Ltd. at Bilkent Cyberpark, where he developed unmanned aerial vehicle systems. He also served as one of Turkey’s representatives in the field of fluid dynamics within the NATO-AGARD organization.

In administrative roles, he served as Chairman of the Board of Cyprus Turkish Airlines (2003–04) and as a Member of the Board of Directors at Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) between 2019–20.

In his academic career, he worked at the İTÜ Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics (1995–97), the Department of Mechanical Engineering at TOBB University of Economics and Technology (2004–17), and subsequently at Anadolu University, Eskişehir Technical University, and Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University in the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics (2017–2024). He is currently continuing his academic work at the Turkish Aeronautical Association University, Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
