He graduated as a Diplom-Ingenieur (M.Sc. in Engineering) from the Technical University of Berlin in 1978. Between 1978 and 1981, he worked at Kraftwerk Union (Siemens), focusing on power plant technologies.

In 1981, he joined MTU Aero Engines, where he carried out engine performance analyses for various engine programs until 2018 and made direct contributions to the development of numerous programs.

He received his Ph.D. from Teesside University in Middlesbrough, United Kingdom, in 2000. Between 2012 and 2019, he lectured as an Instructor in Aircraft Propulsion Systems at Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg in Friedrichshafen.

He is currently contributing to gas turbine development at TMT Turbo Motor Technologies Inc.
